January 1 - February 4, 2008
I started a year with family, friends and Adam at our traditional New Years party. It was Adam's first experience with my whole family and the crazy long celebrations that we do around New Years and it was amazing to have him there. Then January got wacky with the Presidential election. John McCain ended up winning the nomination so I was really busy all of January. I had to go to DC, Poconos and Detroit all in a course of a week in January. I ended up missing my connection in Philadelphia for Scranton and had to drive to Poconos in the middle of winter on the East Coast. But it turned out fine.
February 5-6, 2008
Feb. 5 - the day when John McCain won the nomination for President. Also the day I drove from Los Angeles to Sacramento with all my stuff on my way to Seattle. I got pulled over in Fresno at 9am for speeding too. February 6th I got into my car and drove to Seattle where I arrived that day.
February 7 - March
I spent the time getting settled in Seattle. I got my own apartment, my own furniture, my new office. I got to enjoy an easier work schedule and more financial responsibilities. My sister and her friend came to visit for their spring break which was really fun. Adam and I went ice skating for Valentine's day. I joined the Monday Dinner group. I went to Whistler for the first time and got a great massage at the Four Seasons. I also started volunteering with Seattle Works.
April - June
I continue to get lots of visitors like Mary and Brittany. Mary got to experience snow in April which was not very funny. I also had an intense May 20th Congressional primary in Oregon. I continued waiting for the promised Seattle summer which was delayed. I also went to the Washington State Republican Party convention and when Brittany came, we went to Snorkeler Falls. Knifer made cosmos for our viewing of Sex and the City and we drank at the movie theater which was very appropriate. Mary, Gray, Adam and I went to Port Angeles and to Victoria in Canada. We had lots of fun celebrating Mary's birthday.
July - August
Adam and I celebrated our one year anniversary and we had a picnic for Adam's birthday in Alki Park. My parents visited Seattle and I took the GMAT. I officially overcame my fear of standardized tests when I did not bomb my exam.
September - November 5th
Justin and I went to the RNC Convention in Minnesota. I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time and got to be a delegate. I was also interviewed by Russian TV. Chris Golis came to visit. We went to Tahoe with friends in October, went to LA for a UCLA football game and Adam and my parents met at a cute restaurant in Eagle Rock. Rikesha also came to visit and we went to the Symphony. I carved my first pumpkin and Adam made an Obama pumpkin, which we put next to my pirate ship. The election happened and I was not successful in electing a single one of my candidates. The day after the election, I had to staff the Seattle Auto Show.
November 9th - December 31
Adam and I went to Kauai for vacation and had a great time. Lots of sun time on beautiful beaches, hiking, boat rides, massage, luau, snorkeling, etc. It was very relaxing.
For Thanksgiving, we split the time between our families. I spent my second Thanksgiving with Adam's family and Mary, her mom and I did our traditional Black Friday shopping. My family went to see Celine Dion at the Honda Center, which was really fun too.
In early December, I got to put up my own Holiday Tree and Adam and I hosted a Candy Cane making party.
On December 14th, Irene and I took off for our Birthright trip to Israel with a fellow 38 young people from Los Angeles. We got back the day before the war with Gaza began. It was likely a life changing experience and definitely gave good perspective on life.
All and all, it was a great year. Perhaps the best one yet. Here is to 2009 being even better!
